Elevated Mediterranean Cuisine
Michelin Guide–Recognized
Since opening in 2008, Café Medina has carved out a niche as a truly exceptional breakfast, lunch and weekend-brunch destination that effortlessly blends eclectic bistro fare, connoisseur-savvy coffee and sweet sustatenance via the city’s best Belgian waffles.
While the name Medina has many interpretations, it was selected for its connotation to “radiant or enlightened city”. Indeed, this unique café quickly shone as one of the city’s most stylish additions, thanks to owner Robbie Kane’s pioneering attitude towards café culture and distinctive brand of enlightened hospitality — an ideal complement for the café’s instantly memorable, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
Café Medina has always been about more than what’s on the plate. At its core is a belief in hospitality that feels personal, thoughtful, and enduring — an experience designed to nourish guests in every sense of the word.
Over time, this distinct atmosphere has shaped the café into a lasting presence in Vancouver’s dining culture, earning international recognition and a place among the city’s most celebrated dining destinations, welcoming guests back again and again.
After six years in its original Crosstown location, the café relocated in August 2014 to its current home at 780 Richards Street — a bright, open space in the heart of downtown.
While the new setting introduced expanded seating, an open kitchen, a larger bar, and soaring ceilings filled with natural light, care was taken to preserve the intimate details and old-world warmth that defined its beginnings.
Today, the space continues to evolve — offering not only daytime dining but also an inviting backdrop for private functions and evening gatherings.
